Sue Murtagh’s debut book, We’re Not Rich, won the 2025 Atlantic Book Awards Readers’ Choice Award. Her work has appeared in The Walrus, The New Quarterly, Grain, carte blanche, the Humber Literary Review, yolkliterary.ca, and The Nashwaak Review. We’re Not Rich is published by Nimbus Publishing and Vagrant Press and edited by award-winning writer Alexander MacLeod.
Sue is a graduate of the Alistair MacLeod mentorship program (Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia) and the Humber School for Writers. She was the judge for the David Adams Richards Prize for the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick’s 2025 writing competition. In 2016, she won the Budge Wilson short fiction prize in the Atlantic Writing Competition.
